In 2020, I was invited to photograph members of various indigenous communities from Oaxaca and Guatemala for a fashion show. It was there that he met Henry Sales, an activist in the Maya Mam community in Oakland, California, who later invited me to attend an indigenous peoples gathering in San Juan Atitán, Guatemala. At that gathering in Guatemala, I met Professor Antonio Vásquez Romero, a mentor to Henry and part of the Nahua Indigenous Communities of Tuxpan, Jalisco, Mexico.
Professor Vásquez invited Henry and I to attend The Parade of Ancestral Dances in Tuxpan, in November of 2022, where I captured the pride and splendor of the indigenous people in attendance. He also photographed special guest Dr. Rigoberta Menchú who was celebrating the 30 years of having received the Nobel Peace Prize.
